Lemons in Real Life

Ya know that saying about life handing out lemons and making lemonade?
Well what happens when you don't know how to do that?

How many of us our there have never learned how to pick just the right lemons?  Or even how to squeeze them so as to get the juice out properly?

What if life hands you an orange instead of a lemon?  What if you hate orange juice?!?

Real life doesn't allow one to make lemonade; in real life you take that lemon and cut it up and put it in a glass of water and hope that you aren't allergic to citrus.

at least that is my conclusion....for now.

Oh look! A kitty!!!

This is my cat Lilah.  The picture was taken a year ago at Christmas by my husband, JT, when she was just a kitten.  He's very good at taking pictures, and wants a new good camera instead of my little point and shoot.

Marvelous Light

I once was fatherless
A stranger with no hope
Your kindness wakened me
Wakened me, from my sleep now

Your love it beckons deeply
A call to come and die
By grace now I will come
And take this life, take your life

Sin has lost its power
Death has lost its sting
From the grave you've risen victoriously

Into marvelous light I'm running
Out of darkness, out of shame
By the cross You are the truth
You are the life. You are the way.

My dead heart now is beating
My deepest stain's now clean
Your breath fills up my lungs
Now I'm free, now I'm free yeah

Lift my hands and spin around
See the light that I have found
Oh the marvelous light
Marvelous light
Lift my hands and spin around
See the light within

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have trouble.  But take heart; I have overcome the world.

Yaaawwn...

I'm tired.

Very tired.

But I can't go to sleep yet.

Because my school has to be stupid and go on into next week even though everyone else's school is done this week.

Meaning I'm staying up late to write a paper.

On water pollution.

Who really cares enough about water pollution to write a paper on it??  Really.

Queen of Procrastination

So....I'm not doing my homework...

It isn't that I don't want to write a discussion post answering 5 questions about global warming...I just haven't done it yet. Unfortunately this is one of the only times I have to actually complete it before it is due Saturday and so far I have spent 3 hours not doing it. Yea....

So what should I eat for lunch? Should I watch a movie or read my book while I cook/eat it? Crap.
I am not doing well with this whole "don't procrastinate" thing. Can you believe I am supposed to be "Jingle bell Jingle bell rock....now the jingle hop has begun!" oops.....It came on the radio! What can I say? it is catchy!
Anyway, can you believe I'm supposed to be getting my homework done AND decorating for Christmas today? I was going to surprise the hubby....but it just isn't happening yet. Maybe I need to go to the other room and try a change of scenery. and eat some lunch...tomato soup and grilled cheese maybe?? We'll see...

For now I'll just be the queen of procrastination and all hard working peoples will bow before my awesome procrastination skillz. yea....

Avalanche

So one of my favorite songs right now is Avalanche by Manafest. It has a great beat, and is very catchy, but I like it because of the words mainly. My favorite part is the chorus because it just resonates with me on a very deep level. Here is the lyrics of the chorus*:

Hey!
Cause I'm the prodigal man of this avalanche
I'm going down, I'm going down down

Hey!!
And if you turn me in
I'll confess my sins
I'm going down, I'm going down down

Before I'm six feet deep
I'm washing my hands clean
Just get me out of this avalanche

I just love this. I do so many stupid things. I am the prodigal man and I love being able to just shout it out.

There is another part that says "I've attacked this fear. This scar still here. I'm going on to the end."
I just love that. I have lots of scars....I've battled them again and again, but they are still with me and a person gets tired and worn out. But we still gotta keep going...on to the end.

This song gives me hope, because I know that I have someone to pull me up out of life's craziness whenever I ask.

Just get me outta this avalanche!

*This song is Avalanche by Manafest from the album The Chase. I got the lyrics off of this website: http://www.songlyrics.com/manafest/avalanche-lyrics/

Reason #568 why I love my hubby

I have one of the sweetest, most thoughtful guys in the world as my husband.

I mentioned in an earlier post that I went on a business trip to help open a new store. Well, while I was away, JT asked an interior decorator to take a look at our apartment to see what she could do improve it. (He didn't tell me that he was doing this...) Anyway, so I walked into the apartment and my mouth dropped. Our living room and kitchen were completely rearranged. There were red, orange, and gold leaves all over. There was curtains on the windows!! The whole place looked beautiful! And then I saw the bedroom...

Now JT and I moved into our apartment in July and worked very hard the first week were were there to unpack because we were having a group of people over for a movie night at the end of the week. We got every single box unpacked except for....the bedroom! For 5 months our bedroom was stuffed full of boxes, no pictures were on the walls, and clothes were strewn all over the floor. I kept trying to unpack whenever I had time off of school, but that only ever happened once every 12 weeks. Anyway, so I then saw the bedroom.

Our dressers had been moved to act as bedside tables, making our room seem larger. There was a long mirror turned sideways above our bed, also making the room feel bigger than it actually was. Pillow shams and extra pillows had been added. Curtains were on the windows!! (I haven't had curtains since I moved out of my parents house....I hadn't realized how much I missed them. lol) It was just absolutely beautiful.

JT did all this and managed to keep it a surprise for a full 10 days. He's the best hubby in the whole world.

And I have 567 more ways to prove it.

A Secret Blog

I really like being able to write out my thoughts here...but no one knows about it. I wonder if that is why I like it so much. I enjoy having this little special place to throw out my wild thoughts and ideas. My own little secret blog.

One of my best friends is having a birthday next week and I'm thinking about making her a cupcake. I also think I'll give her a cross-stitch of a cactus that I've been working on for a few months off and on. She doesn't like her birthday for some reason. I'm not sure why. .Anyway, I'm one of the only people who know the actual day of her birthday and have been told never to tell anyone. Anyway, I hope I am able to quietly make it a nice day for her.

Also, I've been working on writing a story/book. I'm hoping to get it all written down. :)

hmmm....

So I'm on a business trip right now for work...we are opening a new grocery store! It is the longest I have been away from my husband since we got married. It is weird. On one hand it feels like I'm in college again; dating online and living in my apartment with a weird roommate.. On the other hand it feels awful cause I don't have my kitty or my hubby around. They are my life and I love them so much. I just don't seem to enjoy my time as much without them.

anyway, I'm sitting in my room, watching one of my favorite movies...Avatar. I just can't help but think how much I'd love to be home right now watching it with my hubby and kitty. How I don't miss my bachlorette days one bit!

Nerf Gun Painting

So did you figure out how I happen to have 15 kids at the moment? Well I'm a youth pastor's wife. I have only known these kids for about 6 months, but already it is just awesome to see them growing up. I am definitely a very lucky young woman. :)

Anyway, as for my title...I'm going to be painting a nerf gun tonight for my Harvest Party costume. I'm going as a cowgirl with a steampunk twist. It's not going to be the most amazing steampunk ever, but pretty good for me at least! I'm excited! Maybe I'll post a pic of my nerf gun when it is done.
